Gorgeous Watches won their first ever Pikesville Softball League title by defeating The Turtles, 14 to 9. The Watches, who lost in last year's final to The Turtles 5 to 2, got sweet redemption and put on a memorable comeback in the finals to eventually move on to victory. The Turtles scored three runs in the 1st...one in the second...three more in the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead, but it wasn't even close to being enough, as Gorgeous Watches came roaring back with the most runs scored in one inning this season against Jilly's with a dozen going on to win the championship 14-9.

With one-out in the top of the 1st, Detour Dave singled in the shortstop hole.  After a pop-out from Harry Schevker, 1st baseman Lee Eidelberg hit a booming homer over the fence in right to make it 2-0.  Warren Scudder than reached on an error and promptly scored on Mark Summerfield's two-bagger to left-center to make it 3-0.  After retiring Gorgeous Watches in the bottom of the 1st, Jilly's recorded another tally with a Rob Gould double and Reggie Ellis's single.  It was 4-0 after 2 innings. Schevker led off the 3rd with a double.  Then Eidelberg singled him home with a shot up the middle.  Summerfield singled...he came home to make it 6-0 on a Gould single to right.  The Turtles closed out the scoring when Ellis hit a fly-ball for a sacrifice to make it 7-0 after 3 innings. After a scoreless top of the 4th it all got sour for the Turtles, who went into their shell and never really re-appeared.

Down 7-0 in the b-4th inning, without a hit, "The Blue Wave" pounded out 13 hits and put up 12 runs to take a 12 to 7 lead going into the 5th. After Craig Dlin lined-out to the pitcher, Larry Henderson and Tony Luna cranked out back to back hits. Russ Dlin then singled home Henderson to get "The Blue Wave" on the board and get the rally started. After Glen Ackman flied out to right center, "The Blue Wave" pounded out 10 straight hits. Andrew Rosenstein singled, Joel Koman then followed with a triple, scoring Rosenstein. Jon Koman then singled and was driven in by Russ Seamster (flexing his calf muscles) and hitting a towering 2 run blast over Detour Dave Sandler. 11 of the GW runs occurred with two-out.  The key hit was a sinking soft line drive just out of the reach of outfielders Moffet and Sandler, bouncing by both of them to make it 7-4. Jilly's got two back in the 6th, but the stuffing was taken out two innings earlier. Gorgeous Watches played solid defense the last 3 innings to move on to their first ever title.

Hitting leaders for the Turtles include Lee Eidelberg (3-4, runs scored and 3 rbi's), Rob Gould (2-2, with 2 runs scored and an RBI) and Mark Summerfield (coming back all the way from O.C, going 3-4, with a run scored and 1 rbi).

Hitting stars for Gorgeous Watches: Larry Henderson 2-4, 2 runs...Tony Luna 2-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI's...Russ Dlin 2-4, 3 RBI's...Joel Koman 2-3, 2 runs scored...Jon Koman 2-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI's...Jeff Harris, for allowing only 2 hits the last 4 innings.

The only player to win his second title is Mark Rosenstein, who played with The Turtles in the early 90's. Special Congratulations to Larry Henderson who in his 16th year, finally can claim victory for the very first time!
