Havana Club Cannons vs Attman's Deli
Game 1
Havana Club Cannons - 21 Attman's Deli- 9 (5
INNINGS)
WP - Mark Yokel LP - Dave Sandler
The Havana Club Cannons squared off against perennial nemesis Attman's
Deli today and were able to take both ends of the doubleheader. Game one saw
Mark Yokel get another victory as the Cannons won by the slaughter rule 21-9 in
five innings. Steve Henneman started the day with a homerun and he was joined by
Dave Lohr and Evan Kreitzer blasts. Andy Winick added a triple and Mark Yokel
went three for three. Jeff Kurland also had three hits as the Havana Club really
hit well up and down the lineup.
Game 2
Havana Club Cannons - 13 Attman's Deli- 12
WP - Jeff Robbins LP - Dave Sandler
Game two opened with controversy as the replacement umpire lost his cool
and started screaming at all sorts of people. He ejected Tom Paulshock for
throwing two illegal pitches and then claimed he was "assaulted" and
threw Tom out for the year. Gerry Edelman protested the game at that point. This
umpire claimed he threw Paulshock out of a game last year as well, but Tom
Paulshock has never been thrown out of a game before. Further, no one on our
field had ever seen this umpire before. Nevertheless, the game was played, and
with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Dan Kassell and Evan Kreitzer
singled to set up a three run walk off homerun by Ernie Stephenson. Jeff Robbins
got the win in relief and the final score was 13-12. Evan Kreitzer added an
earlier home run in game two, and Dan Kassel had a triple, knocking in a run and
then scoring on a Kreitzer hit. The Cannons used four pitchers in the second
game. Paulshock, Yokel, Winick and Robbins got the job done effectively.

Sky & Sky Inc vs Legal Papers Inc
Game 1
Sky & Sky Inc- 14 Legal Papers Inc- 5
WP- Marc Leibovitz LP-Marty Ellis
Sky & Sky met Legal Papers in a battle of two of the three first
place teams, each one looking to put some distance between themselves and the
rest of the pack in the standings. Sky & Sky came right out of the box
with two off the bat of Brian Kowitz for his first homer of the day. Eric
Gertner doubled in one more for a 3-0 lead in t-1st. Legal Papers got on
the board in the b-2nd as Aaron Shifrin doubled in his first at-bat after from
off-season knee surgery. Keith Cruse got the SF to make the score 3-1 in
the b-2nd. In the t-3rd Sky & Sky bats again came to life as four
singles and a SF led to two more runs. Legal Papers threatened in the
b-3rd, but a hard grounder to SS began a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat.
An error to start the t-4th allowed Sky & Sky's Alan Smith to double one
more in, and Brian "Sky" Mekiliesky golfed a pitch over the LCF for
two more in the t-5th. Down by 7 in the b-5th, Legal papers Jeff Wolff
lined a shot to field #2 for three runs cutting the deficit to four. Sky
& Sky's Alan Smith got the lumber out for a 2-run blast to deep LCF in the
t-6th. Legal Papers got one of those runs back in the b-6th as two
leadoff singles allowed Dave Michelson to get a SF. Sky & Sky added some insurance
runs in the t-7th with a Scott Felton triple to plate two and Eric Gertner
singled him home for a final score on 14-5. Mark Leibovitz earned the win
and Marty Ellis was saddled with the loss. Hitting stars for Sky
& Sky were Steve Truitt 3-4(2B, 2 1B, 2 runs ), Brian Mekiliesky 3-4(HR, 1B,
3RBI, 2 runs) and Alan Smith 2-3(HR, 2B, 3RBI). Legal Papers had the
distinction of having each batter in their line-up get precisely one hit in a
true team effort.
Game 2
Legal Papers Inc- 9 Sky & Sky Inc- 8
WP-Ted Winner LP-Larry Newman
Game two saw a much closer contest in a one run thriller. Legal
Papers returned the favor of an opening inning 3-run spot. Paul Shifrin
got things going with an 0-2 single and tagged to second on a foul ball to the
3rd baseman. Keith Cruse singled him home, and Dave Kopel singled two home
to give Legal Papers the early 3-0 advantage. They added 3 more again off
the bat of Kopel as he homered to LF for a three run dinger. That blast
must have sounded the alarm bell as Sky & Sky came to life in the b-3rd.
Kirk Gorman lined a shot up the middle to get things going and after a double
and an error one run had crossed. David Kowitz singled one in and then his
brother knocked in 3 with his 2nd homerun of the day to close the gap to within
one. Jumping to the 5th, Keith Cruse doubled to get things going for Legal
Papers and 3 singles later Legal Papers again had a 3 run lead. Sky &
Sky chipped away as Steve Truitt knocked one in to close the gap within two. In
the b-6th Scott Felton let off with a solo shot and Alan Smith hit the ball the
other way to drive in the tying run. In the t-7th and errant throw pulled
the Sky & Sky 1st baseman off the bag and Keith Cruse avoided the tag which
would prove to be a costly error. Dave Michelson singled to set up a 1st
and 3rd situation, and again a grounder to 3rd base lead to an errant throw and
the go-ahead run crossing the plate. Sky & Sky certainly had their
chance in the b-7th inning with a lead off walk, but they were unable to convert
as LF Dave Michelson got the 2nd out and had a diving catch to end the game.
Final score 9-8 as Ted Winner got the win and Larry Newman took his 1st loss of
the season. Hitting stars for Legal Papers were Keith Cruse who was 2- 4
with 4 runs including the game winner. Dave Kopel who was 3 - 4 (HR, 2 1B,
6 RBI, 2 runs), Dave Michelson was 2 - 3 (2 1B, BB) and Ted Winner was 2 - 4
(2B, 1B). For Sky & Sky, Larry Newman was the only notable contributer
with a double, RBI, 2 BB and 2 runs.

own rally in t-7th. Todd Katz drew a leadoff walk and scored on Shad Jones'
2-run HR making the score 10-7. Roogow singled, Rick Amernick singled, and
pinch-hitter Mike Herr walked to load the bases. Hineline bared down to
strikeout Jan Katzen, but yielded a 2-out single to Kenny Salzman. On the throw
