Game 1
Sky & Sky Inc - 13  Orbin Publishing - 2
WP - Marc Leibovitz  LP - Gary Schoengold
In game 1 Orbin Publishing got a single right between the pitcher's legs and after 2 players touched it and 2 errors he crossed the plate for the only defensive lapse of the game. Sky & Sky immediately returned fire with a David Kowitz ground-rule double. Scott Felton tripled with 2 on to push Sky & Sky into the lead. Andy Bloom and Joel Wax each singled in another runner for a 4-1 lead in the b-1st. In Sky & Sky's 2nd, 13 men came to the plate. Brian Kowitz hit a grand slam and a walk, plus 2 errors lead to 2 more runs. When the dust cleared a total of 8 runs had crossed the plate with 4 errors and 4 hits in the inning. In the t-3rd, Orbin Publishing's Matt Summerlin singled home 1 but Marc Leibovitz induced a ground ball to 3rd for the inning ending double play. In the b-4th Brian "Sky" Mekiliesky singled home a run, but it became a defensive showcase from that point forward. Each pitcher pitched to 4 batters or fewer and Leibovitz even helped out his own
cause with the glove. On an overthrow from LF he alertly backed up 3rd and flipped to the 3rd baseman to tag out the baserunner who overran the base. The final score 13-2 as Leibovitz got his 2nd win of the season and Gary Schoengold took the loss. Hitting stars for Sky & Sky were Brian Kowitz (2-4, HR 2B 4RBI 2 runs), Andy Bloom (2-4, 2RBI) and Joel Wax (2-3, 1RBI). Brian Kowitz hit a sac fly with the bases loaded to drive in one and Brian Sky hit a hard grounder to 2nd which was misplayed for another run. Not to be outdone Orbin Publishing's George Teague doubled and after a sac fly and a single by Matt Summerlin the score was knotted again at 4. Sky & Sky pushed ahead by 1 in the t-4th with a solo job by Joel Wax and another crossed in the next inning as Aric Spitulnik had a SF. Gary Schoengold pitched his way out of a bases loaded jam inducing a pop up to the 2nd baseman to prevent further damage. In the meantime Larry Newman set down 11 in a row cruising through the later innings. Although Orbin Publishing had the tying run on base in the b-7th they were not able to cut into the lead and the final score ended 6-4.
