GorgeousWatches.com vs Sky & Sky Inc.
Game 1
GorgeousWatches.com- 16 Sky & Sky
Inc- 8
WP- Sonny Cherlstein LP - Marc Leibovitz
Gorgeouswatches.com entered the day looking to leapfrog Sky & Sky in
the standings. Their first inning production demonstrated that determination
with 3 runs & 2 homeruns all with 2 outs. Not wanting to let the game get
out of hand, the 1st three batters for Sky & Sky reached. Only a great throw
by the GW LCF, Craig Dlin, to nail a runner at third prevented a tie score as
Brian Kowitz rocketed a shot to deep RCF. GW added 2 more in the t-3rd using 3
singles and some aggressive base running. In the t-4th several errors and 6
singles added 3 more runs to stake GW to an 8-2 lead. Not wanting to let things
get out of hand Sky & Sky added 2 solo homers in the b-4th, including Eric
Gertner's warning track power, top pole rattling homerun which stayed in the
park. GW answered with 3 of their own in the t-5th off of a Craig Dlin homerun
and triples by Mike Jenkins and Joel Koman. In the b-5th Sky & Sky came
calling right back with 2 doubles and 2 walks. Brian Sky's 2 out, bases loaded
single was the big shot of the inning. Not to be outdone GW came roaring back
off the bat Glenn Packman's monster shot which just stayed fair down the RF
line. GW tacked on 2 more for good measure in the t-7th to make the final score
16-8 as Sonny Cherlstein got the win and Marc Leibovitz took the loss. Hitting
stars for GW were Mike Jenkins who hit for the cycle and tacked on 4 RBI, Bobby
Morrow 4-4, 3 runs, Craig Dlin 3-4 (HR 2 1B), Joel Koman 3-4 (3B 2 1B) and Tony
Luna who also chipped in 3 hits and 3 runs. For Sky & Sky Brian Kowitz
2-2(2HR, IBB, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Andy Bloom 2-3 (2 2B, 2 runs) and Steve Truitt
2-3 (BB).
Game 2
GorgeousWatches.com- 8 Sky & Sky
Inc- 6
WP- Jeff Harris LP - Larry Newman
Looking to preserve their place in the standings Sky & Sky came out
with the lumber in the t-1st. Four runs scored on 4 singles aided by 2 errors.
GW did their damage in the t-2nd aided by 2 errors from the Sky & Sky SS.
The big hit of the inning was a Jeff Harris line drive 3-run shot over the
leftfielder's head. In the t-4th GW struck for 3 more as Andrew Rosenstein got
the inning started with a double. Four singles plus a SF later saw GW jump ahead
to their first lead of the game. In the t-5th Andrew Rosenstein doubled home
another one. Needing to get things going, Sky & Sky got the lead off runner
on with an error and tried to take advantage, but Alan Friedman grounded into
the inning ending FC cutting the deficit to 3. In the t-7th the number 9 and 10
hitters reached safely to begin the comeback rally for Sky & Sky. A double
by Steve Truitt pushed 1 across but an alert Tony Luna gunned down Kirk Gorman
trying to reach 3rd on the play. With the
rally stymied GW got the final out to sweep Sky & Sky 8-6 in the nightcap.
Jeff Harris got the win and Larry Newman took the loss. Hitting stars for GW
were Andrew Rosenstein 3-3 (2 2B, 1 B, 2 runs), Glenn Packman 2-3 (2B 1B), Joel
Koman 3 hits and 2 runs and Jeff Harris 2-3 (HR 1B). For Sky & Sky, Brian
Sky went 2-3 with 2 RBI and Steve Truitt was 2-4 (2B 1B).

Havana Club Cannons vs Legal Papers Inc
Game 1
Havana Club Cannons- 7 Legal
Papers Inc- 3
WP-Mark Yokel LP-Ted Winner
The Havana Club Cannons again won behind Mark Yokel 7-3, and clinched their
second regular season championship in four years. This win coupled with an
Attman's second game defeat by the Kings gave the Cannons the championship. LPI started off the 1st inning with a lead off double by Eric Ruby,
single by David Kopel and a single by Cucina to begin the game. After
settling down, Mark Yokel's pitching was magnificent as he was "in the
zone" retiring 13 straight batters from innings 2 through 5.
Yokel improved his record to 13-2 and was benefited by outstanding defense. LPI
made a run in the 6th inning scoring 2 runs, but it wasn't enough as Cannon
took game #1. (***LPI only had 7 hits, plus 16 pop flys). Cannons did
receive some timely hitting. Steve Henneman went three for four with two
doubles and two RBI's, and Neal Charkatz was two for two and a walk with 2
RBI's.
Game 2
Legal Papers Inc- 7 Havana Club
Cannons- 1
WP-Marty Ellis LP-Tom Paulshock
The Cannons lost the second game 7-1 as the timely hitting stopped for a while.
Tom Paulshock absorbed the loss as his record fell to 3-6 on the year. LPI's defense was the winner in this game as Ken Zalis's second base
defense, stopped the Cannons flat in their tracks for the first 3 innings. The
game was tied 0-0, until the top of the 4th inning when LPI's middle of the
order scored 2 runs from a walk by Mark Cucina, a 2-out single by Marc
Summerfield and double by Ted Winner. With men in scoring position and
2-outs, LPI's pitcher, Marty Ellis, flied out to left field to strand the other
2 runners which ended the inning. LPI's 1-2 punch, Eric Ruby's double and
David Kopel's single, led to Donnie Herrod's sac fly in the 5th
inning, adding another run. In the 6th inning, Tom Paulshock walked the
first two batters, Ken Zalis and Paul Shifrin, then 2 fielders choices by
Marc Summerfield and Ted Winner, pushed another run across the plate. By
the 7th inning, LPI started off with a hot shot single by David Kopel, between
the first & second baseman, a double from Donnie Herrod and an intentional
walk (4th of the season) for Jeff Sacks. A fielders choice from Mark Cucina
and a single by Ken Zalis pushed 3 insurance runs to the plate, ending the score
7-1.
For the Cannons, Ernie Stephenson managed to go three for three
and Jeff Kurland singled twice, but no one else was able to have a multi hit
game. The Cannons experimented with a short fielder in this game and it paid
some early dividends versus the LPI but ultimately it made little difference.

Game 2
Kings- 11 Attman's Deli- 3
WP-Chuck Grant LP-Bruce Eisenberg
Whatever Chuck Grant did in game 1, he did not repeat in game 2, pitching
a fantastic game as Attman's batters went just 7-for-27 (.259). Kings bats
stayed hot for game 2 exploding for an uncharacteristic 17 hits against Bruce
Eisenberg, taking game 2 11-3. This game was a highly contested battle until the
6th inning. Attman's again jumped to an early lead with 2 runs in b-1st. Rob
Ressin led off the inning with a single and 1 out later moved to 3B on a Rickey
Farley single. Lee Eidelberg's SF to RCF brought Ressin home. Brian Wolf
followed with a single to score Farley. In Kings t-2nd, Todd Katz singled to
lead off and moved to 2B on a flyout by Shilo Merwitz. Mike Herr followed with a
single, with Katz scoring. In t-3rd, with 1 out consecutive doubles by Jeff
Slutzker and Chuck Grant tied the score at 2-2. Grant took 3B on an error and
scored on an Alan Varhaftik SF, giving Kings brief 3-2 lead. The lead was brief
because Attman's plated the tying run in the bottom of the inning. Dave Sandler
led off the inning with a double. He remained at 2B for the next 2 outs, but
scored on Brian Wolf's clutch single to CF. The game remained tied 3-3 thru 5
innings. In Kings t-6th, another 2 out rally yielded 5 runs. The inning started
with a Chuck Grant 2B. With 2 outs, consecutive doubles by Shilo Merwitz and
Mike Herr put Kings ahead 5-3. Josh Bross and Marc Goldstein followed with RBI
hits for a 7-3 lead. An infield error led to the 5th run of the inning and a
Kings 8-3 lead. In t-7th, leadoff HR's by Jeff Slutzker and Chuck Grant
cushioned the lead, while an Alan Varhaftik 3B and a Todd Katz SF sealed the win
11-3.
Offensive stars for the Kings in game 2 were P Chuck Grant (4-4,3 R,2 RBI, 3 2B,HR), Jeff Slutzker (3-4,2 R,1 RBI,2B,HR), Mike Herr (2-4,2 R,2 RBI,2B), and Marc Goldstein (3-3,1 R,1 RBI). For Attman's, Brian Wolf (2-3,2 RBI,2B) and Bruce Eisenberg (2-3) were the only multi-hit players.
