WP- Gary Weinapple LP - Bruce Eisenberg
Following a 6 year hiatus, Morton D. Marcus was called on in an emergency to fill in and prevent
2 forfeits. Early morning emergencies prevented 3 players from Attman's to attend and as they
were left with just eight players, Morty Marcus attempted a rescue. He played
2B, 3B and RF and contributed offensively with 2 singles, a walk, and 2 RBI in 6
AB's. It was to no avail as Attman's Deli dropped a doubleheader.
Palmgard came out swinging in the t-1st inning with consecutive hits by Jeff Webster, Grailen Archie, Jim Davis, Mark Benjamin, and Jim Silvestri
leading to 3 quick runs. Mickey Golden followed one batter later with a 2-run single and Gary Weinapple added a
SF to give Palmgard a 6-0 lead. Palmgard held on to the 6 run lead while only getting 2
additional hits. Bruce Eisenberg sat down 14 straight hitters during a stretch from the 2nd inning through the 7th.

Palmgard managed only 7 hits in game two to pull out a 4-3 victory. Game

3-3. Scott Moffet made a long run and valiant effort, but to no avail.
Palmgard's Jim Silvestri then hit a shot down the RF line that just eluded the
glove of Reggie Ellis for a HR to give Palmgard the sweep.

Game 2
Kings-7 Sky & Sky Inc-1
WP- Jeff Goldstein LP- Larry Newman
Getting 2 hits in the opener was not necessarily a good thing for a Kings
starter, as Miller, Amernick, and Herr all sat on the bench to start game #2.
Nevertheless, Kings Jeff Goldstein was very effective and scattered 8 hits in
picking up his first win of the season by a score of 7-1. Again scoreless into
inning 3, with 2 outs and nobody on in t-3rd Todd Katz singled and Jeff Slutzker
hit a 2-run HR. In b-4th, Sky's Brian Kowitz doubled with 2 outs and scored on
Brian Sky's RBI single. Trailing 2-1, Sky threatened to tie the score in the
b-6th. Alan Friedman and Larry Newman hit singles to start the inning. Dave
Kowitz followed with a sharp grounder up-the -middle. Kings 2B Dave Roogow
knocked the ball down and tossed to SS Mike Pusateri forcing Newman at 2B. Steve
Truitt then followed with a groundball to 3B Jan Katzen, Katzen wisely checked
Friedman at 3B and tossed to Roogow for the forceout of Kowitz. Brian Kowitz was
retired on a flyball to end the threat. Sky's Larry Newman also threw a strong
game for Sky thru 6 innings as the score was still 2-1 entering inning 7. In
Kings t-7th, Dave Roogow doubled to lead off the inning. He moved over to 3B on
Josh Frederick's flyout to RF Eric Gertner. Josh Bross entered the game as a
pinch-hitter for Jeff Goldstein and delivered a clutch RBI single to put Kings
up 3-1. Marc Goldstein flew out for the 2nd out, but Todd Katz singled and Jeff
Slutzker walked to load the bases. Kenny Salzman, pinch-hitting for Mike
Pusateri, lofted a triple over the head of RF Gertner to empty the bases and
giving the Kings a 6-1 lead. Chuck Grant followed Salzman with an RBI single,
making the final score 7-1.
Andy Bloom (2-3) was the only Sky player with 2 hits. Kings offensive contributors included Marc Goldstein (2-4), Todd Katz (2-4,2 R), Jeff Slutzker (2-3,2 R,2 RBI, HR,W), Chuck Grant (2-3,1 RBI,W), Kenny Salzman (1-1,3B,3 RBI), and Josh Bross (1-1,1 R,1 RBI). Legal Papers Inc vs Orbin Publishing
Game 1
Legal Papers-18 Orbin Publishin-6 (5 Innings)
WP-Ted Winner LP-Gary Schoengold
Ted Winner pitcheds a 3-hitter, while Paul Shifrin came out of a slump with 3-4, 2 doubles &
single. LPI was patient the 1st inning with the first 2 batters, David Kopel and Keith Kruse taking walks, then Donnie Herrod
hitting a double to score 2 runs. Pitching control for Orbin was again a factor in the
2nd inning with much the same-- walks to the first 2 batters, but LPI stranded both and could not score. The game exploded in the 3rd inning with a lead off triple over the left center
fielder,s head by David Kopel, a single from Keith Kruse, a walk to Donnie Herrod,
then back-to-back doubles by Bob Hansen and Paul Shifrin. The special of the month was a line-shot triple to the
RCF by Ken Zalis as LPI ended the inning with 6 more runs. By the 4thh inning, hitting was a contagious diseases for LPI as David Kopel
led off with another walk which was followed by a monster shot over the right center fielder's head from Keith Kruse. If that wasn't enough, Donnie Herrod and Paul Shifrin and Marc Summerfield all hit consecutive doubles which ended the inning with 4 more runs. Orbin rallied back all the runs, plus 2 ending the
b-4th inning with 6 runs. LPI was greedy, they needed more runs, like a camel in the desert searching for water, well, they found it in the 5th inning..... A lead-off single by Ted Winner and David Michaelson, a walk by Howard Rosenberg, single by Ron Bondroff and a walk by David Kopel (3rd of the day) to set up Donnie Herrod for a smashing a double up the middle and Paul
Shifrin hitting a single to bring in the winning run for an 18-6 game in 5
innings.
Game 2
Legal Papers-18 Orbin Publishin-6 (5 Innings)
WP-Marty Ellis LP-Gary Schoengold
A repeat score with a repeat hitting clinic (all 11 batters had at least 1+ hits). Out of the gate
from the 1st inning, LPI put 4 quick runs on the board with a double from Donnie Herrod, single from Paul Shifrin and a
screaming line-shot homerun to LF from Marc Summerfield to clear the bases. Inning 2 was quiet while in the 3rd inning Orbin scored 5 runs to make it a challenging game. LPI scored 14 more runs in the next 3 innings to shut down Orbin in 5 innings.

5 of their runs in the 2nd inning. Evan Kreitzer hit a 3-run HR to center field in the

there was enough defense to seal the win.
Game 2
GorgeousWatches.com-9 Havana Club Cannons-7
WP-
LP-Tom Paulshock
The Cannons tried to come back from a 9-3 deficit in the t-7th, but fell a little short. Tom Paulshock was a hard luck losing pitcher
in this spot, and he did not have the greatest defensive support. Nevertheless, GeorgeousWatches
was able to out score the Cannons and wracked up the win 9-7. Jeff Kurland went
3-4 in this game and Neal Charkatz, Evan Kreitzer, and Ernie Stephenson had two hits apiece.
