Randallstown High School Field #1
Kings vs Havana Club Cannons
Game 1
Havana Club Cannons-7  Kings-3
WP- Mark Yokel   LP - Chuck Grant
The Havana Club Cannons played the Kings in the first game today with a shorthanded nine players. In the third inning, Johnny Edelman tripled to knock in the first runs of the game. The Kings tied it at two apiece in the b-5th. Todd Katz, Mike Pusateri (game 2-2,1 R,2 RBI), and Jeff Slutzker started the b-5th with consecutive singles. Dave Miller's SF put across the tying run. In the t-6th Johnny Edelman (game 4-4,2 R,2 RBI) singled to lead off, Evan Kreitzer doubled, and then Rob Isennock singled both across, for a 4-2 lead. With Mark Yokel pitching, that lead appeared safe, but the Cannons added 3 more runs in t-7th with consecutive hits by Dan Kassel, Steve Henneman (game 2-3,2 R), Edelman and Kreitzer (game 2-4,1 R,2 RBI,2B). Kings threatened in b-7th, scoring a run to making score 7-3, and had the bases loaded with 2 outs, but Yokel induced Josh Frederick into a flyout to end the ballgame. The game was played well defensively with the Cannons committing just 1 error and the Kings 2.

Game 2
Havana Club Cannons- Kings-
WP-Mark Yokel   LP - Jeff Goldstein
Game two is always tougher against the Kings and today was no exception. The Havana Club did have 10 men for game two, but Mark Yokel hurled again. The Cannons led 6-3 after 3 innings, but the Kings scored 7 in the t-4th to take a 10-6 advantage. In that inning, Kings batted around and got RBI hits by Todd Katz, Mike Pusateri, Dave Roogow, Jeff Goldstein, and Kenny Salzman. In b-4th, Steve Henneman hit a 2-RBI triple and he came in to score on an Evan Kreitzer SF to get it to 10-9 Kings. Gerry Edelman's SF knotted it at 10-10 in the b-5th, and it stayed that way until inning 11. However, in b-8th, Cannons Mark Yokel started inning with a single to LF. Jeff Kurland followed with a flyout to RF, but the throw into the infield went out-of-play with Yokel awarded thirdbase. The Kings elected to intentionally walk Dan Kassel and Steve Henneman (game 2-5,2 R,3 RBI,3B,W) to set up a force play. Electing to go with 5 infielders, Kings pitcher Jeff Goldstein was able to retire Kreitzer on a fly ball to CF Marc Goldstein. Yokel tagged from 3B trying to score and ended up getting caught and tagged out in a rundown. In Kings t-11th, Dave Roogow (game 2-5,2 R,1 RBI) beat out a 2-out infield single and scored on Jeff Goldstein's (game 2-4,1 R,2 RBI,2B) RBI double. In the home half of the 11th, leadoff man Jeff Kurland singled. Dan Kassel singled and Evan Kreitzer (game 3-5,2 R,3 RBI,2B,SF) doubled after Henneman popped out. This tied it at 11-11 and the Kings walked Johnny Edelman intentionally to face Rob Isennock. Isennock was walked with the bases loaded, forcing in the winning run and giving the Cannons the sweep.

Notes: Kings Jeff Slutzker (back), Shad Jones (shoulder), and Shilo Merwitz (leg) all left the doubleheader early with injuries. Jones and Merwitz are expected back next week.

Randallstown High School Field #2
Orbin Publishing vs GW
Game 1
GorgeousWatches-23  Orbin Publishing-8
WP-  LP- Gary Schoengold
GW shook off a sluggish start to post a doubleheader sweep of Orbin Publishing 22-8 and 11-7. Catcher Larry Henderson, rebounding from one of his worse weeks the week before, led a 36 hit attack in game one by going 5-5 and scoring 4 runs. GW scored at least 1 run in all 7 innings. After 2 innings the score was tied at 2 apiece. But GW scored 5 runs in the third by stringing together five straight hits and a sacrifice fly. In the 4th inning, newcomer SS Mike Jenkins belted a titanic 2-run homer to make it 9-4 and the rout was on as GW scored 6 more runs in the inning to make it 13-4. GW scored 1 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th and 5 more in the 7th. Sonny Cherlstein pitched well in getting his 3rd win of the season. Rich Northrup mopped up in the 7th inning.

Game 2
GorgeousWatches-11  Orbin Publishing-7
WP- M   LP- Gary Schoengold
Game two was a bigger struggle for GorgeousWatches, who with a win would reach .500 for the first time all year. GW took a 1-0 lead in the b-1st with lead off back to back doubles by LCF Craig Dlin and Henderson. But Orbin Publishing fought back with 2 runs in the t-2nd and in the t-3rd to take a 4-1 lead. In the b-3rd GW started to mount their comeback. Craig Dlin opened with a single. Henderson tripled him home to make it 4-2. After LF Tony Luna flied out, RCF Russ Dlin hit a pop fly to deep first base with Henderson just beating the tag to make it 4-3 Orbin. With 2 outs, 1B Bobby Morrow doubled. 2B Andrew Rosenstein then doubled him home to knot the game at 4-4. DH Russ Seemster then singled home Rosenstein to give GW the lead 5-4. 3B Joel Koman hit a doubled in the gap to score pinchrunner Sonny Cherelstein to make it 6-4. Jenkins then singled home Koman to end the scoring at 7-4 for GW. But Orbin refused to give up and tied the score at seven in the t-5th.  GW then sealed the game in the b-5th. Russ Dlin opened the inning with a double. Morrow singled him home to give GW the lead 8-7. Andrew Rosenstein singled to put runners on first and second. Seemster popped out to first for the 1st out. Koman then bounced into a fielder's choice for the 2nd out leaving runners at first and second base. Then Jenkins stepped up and again delivered a big tater this time to LCF to clear the bases and give GW the 11-7 margin that would hold up for the rest of the game. Harris again pitched with grit in winning his 5th game of the season.

Hitting stars: Jenkins 6-7, 2 HR, 3 2B, 6 RBI, 3 R;  Craig Dlin 6-8, 5 R; Henderson 7-9, 5 R, 5 2B;  Russ Dlin 5-5, 7 RBI; Morrow 6-8; 6 RBI.

Randallstown High School Field #3
Sky & Sky Inc. vs Palmgard
Game 1
Sky & Sky Inc-6  Palmgard-5
WP-Marc Leibovitz   LP-Larry Hineline
The games featured two 1 run decisions, both won in the last inning. In game 1, Palmgard put 2 on the board with 4 hits as Jim Silvestri singled home Grailen Archie and Gabe Silber singled home another one. Sky & Sky then came up to inflict their own damage in the 1st…a Brian Kowitz triple knocked in one. Brian Sky singled home another and Eric Gertner got an RBI double. In the t-3rd Palmgard regained the lead as Archie delivered another RBI hit and Jim Davis got a SF as did Gabe Silber. But make no mistake about it, this was a pitchers’ duel all the way as Larry Hineline pitched to 4 or fewer batters in the remaining innings. Marc Leibovitz tried to match the feat as he pitched to 4 or fewer batters in 5 of the innings for Sky & Sky. With Palmgard clinging to a 1 run lead entering the b-7th Scott Felton promptly lead off with a single and Brian Sky drew a walk. This set up Andy Bloom who hit a single to right field which fooled the RF and both runners came around to score on the winning 2 RBI knock. Leibovitz got the win and Heinline the truly tough luck loss.

Hitting stars for Sky & Sky were David Kowitz 2-3 and Brian Kowitz also 2-3 (3B, 2B). For Palmgard Grailen Archie (3-4, 2B, 2-R); Jim Silvestri (2-3, 2B, 2-R, RBI); Mike Woods (2-3, 2B, RBI).

Game 2
Sky & Sky Inc-8   Palmgard-7 (12 INNINGS)
WP-Larry Newman   LP-Mike Johnson
Game 2 was a 12 inning marathon with neither team leading by more than 1 run in any inning. In the t-1st Scott Felton doubled home one, but Palmgard came right back with 3 hits in the b-1st and 2 runs. Sky & Sky tied it as Eric Gertner doubled home one to knot the score. Sky & Sky jumped out to a 4-2 lead as Alan Smith hit a long sac fly that scored one and Mike Rottenberg singled home another. In the t-4th Mike Woods got things rolling with a double and came around to score, cutting the deficit to one. In the 5th Scott Felton singled home Brian Kowitz to again push Sky & Sky ahead by two. Palmgard got 2 of their own in the b-5th as Jeff Webster singled, came around to score, and Gabe Silber got another sac fly. The score remained tied 5-5 after 7.  In the 8th, Sky & Sky got one run as Scott Felton doubled home the go ahead run. With their backs against the wall Jim Davis singled and eventually came around to score. Jumping ahead to the 9th both teams got a runner to 3rd base including Palmgard who batted 6 players in the inning but neither team took advantage. In the 10th Palmgard again loaded the bases with 1 out but Scott Felton went back on a Mickey Golden deep shot to right field to save the game. In the 11th Scott Felton doubled and came in to score on a Brian Sky SF. Palmgard battled back taking advantage of a mental lapse by the Sky & Sky SS. The tying run came around to score as Mike Johnson singled and Jeff Webster knocked him in. To the 12th, with both teams fatigued, Eric Gertner lead off with a single and advanced on a SF. Alan Friedman singled him home to again put Sky & Sky ahead by 1 run. Palmgard lead off with 3 singles but failed to push the tying run across the plate as Sky & Sky eked out its second, last inning win of the day.

Hitting stars were David Kowitz 3-5 (2B, 2 1B), Scott Felton 4-5 (4 2B, 3 RBI), Eric Gertner 3-5 (2 2B, 1B) and Alan Friedman 4-5 (2B, 3 1B). For Palmgard Jeff Webster (4-6, 2-R, RBI); Grailen Archie (3-5, 2-R, BB); Jim Davis (3-5, R, RBI, BB).

Randallstown High School Field #4
Attman's Deli vs Legal Papers Inc
Game 1
Attman's Deli-7   Legal Papers-3
WP-Bruce Eisenberg   LP-Ted Winner
A very quiet and uneventful doubleheader was played as Attman's took both ends of the doubleheader. LPI started off inning #1 with Ryan Arnett crushing a line drive to left field for a triple followed by a single by Jeff Sacks.  From inning #2 to the end of the game, Bruce Eisenberg pitched a magnificent game allowing only 5 more hits and creating 13 flyball outs. Attman's had a 3-2 lead in the b-5th, when they scored 4 more runs on consecutive singles by Matt Bell, Dave Sandler, and Scott Moffet, followd by Sac flies from Lee Eidelberg and Ricky Farley.  Another run came home on a double by Brian Wolf after Warren Scudder reached on an error. Attman's had 11 hits, 3 walks, and 3 SF's. LPI's Ted Winner displayed excellent pitching control, but it was not enough as Attman's closed out the game.

Game 2
Attman's Deli-7   Legal Papers-0
WP-Bruce Eisenberg  LP-Marty Ellis
Game two was equally as boring as Attman's scored 3 runs in the 1st and 3rd innings for a 6-0 lead and Bruce Eisenberg went on to shutout LPI for the 7-0 victory. Eisenberg was superb, pitching a 5 hitter, creating 16 fly outs. LPI had only one opportunity to cut the deficit in the 5th inning with bases loaded and one out. Jeff Sacks hit a screaming line drive to the second baseman for the second out, then Ron Bondroff hit a fly ball to rightcenter field.

Notes: Short of ASA Umpires this week, Kory Rosenberg filled in for the umpiring duties. He did a good job calling strikes for both teams as there was little controversy most of the game. He was definitely a PITCHERS UMPIRE !
