Week 12 Highlights
Field 2
Sky & Sky Incorporated vs Havana Club Cannons
With only nine players for both games the Cannons felt lucky to gain
a split with a fine Sky + Sky ball club.
Game 1
A late start waiting for the umpire did not seem to affect Sky & Sky's bats.
After a leadoff walk and single, one run scored and Andy Bloom's three-run job
capped the scoring with 5 runs in the first. The Cannon's chipped away with an
RBI double by Evan Kreitzer. In the third, David Kowitz homered and his brother
followed suit in the same inning with a two-run blast. The Cannon's came
battling back. Four runs on three singles were capped by a Mike Dubansky triple.
Sky then exploded for 7 runs in the 4th inning. Walks, singles and some good
base running were punctuated by a Scott Felton three-run double. Sky & Sky
added one run in the fifth with Eric Gertner tripling and Alan Smith singled him
home. Sky added one more in the sixth with a Brian Kowitz double. The Cannons
were aided by an error in their half of the sixth, and scored two, the key shot
being a Mike Dubansky homerun. Sky added two more in the seventh with another
triple from Eric Gertner, two walks, and Larry Newman helped his fellow
pitcher's cause with an RBI single. Final score 18-7 in favor of Sky & Sky.
Winning pitcher was Marc Leibovitz. Tom Paulshock took the loss. Hitting stars
were David Kowitz with a 2-4 performance including a homerun and four RBI's,
Brian Kowitz had four RBI's as well, including a homerun and a double. Scott
Felton also contributed four RBI's going two for three. Eric Gertner chipped in
with two triples. For the Cannon's, Mike Dubansky fell short of the cycle
needing only a single, and had three RBI's. Jeff Kurland went two for four and
stretched a double into a homerun.
Game 2
Game two was a much closer contest. Sky got out of a jam in the first inning and
proceeded to push three across in the bottom of the first including three
doubles. In the top of the second, the Cannon's chipped away for two runs with
RBI singles by Steve Henneman and Jeff Kurland. In the top of the fourth, the
Cannons batted around and pushed five runs acrossed to take a 7-3 lead. A few
singles and three errors started the rally. Johnny Edelman and his teammate Jeff
Robbins each doubled home a run. In the fifth, Steve Henneman's double helped to
score one more for the Cannons. In Sky & Sky's half of the sixth two runs
came across on an Alan Smith triple, but Sky was unable to close the gap. The
final score was 8-5, as Tom Paulshock got the win and Larry Newman took the
loss.

in the first and a three run homer later to solidify a 7-4 win over Attman's.
Game 2
Game two was another story. With the score changing regularly and the lead
changing back and forth, it was no wonder the game took 2 1/2 hrs. Attman's led
10-9 in the bottom of the third after lead off hits by Fred Shapiro (4-6 in game
two) and Harry Schevker (4 for 8 on the day). A two out double by Paul Bell (6

17-12 in the seventh when Attman's scored 5 runs on four consecutive singles
with two men on by Moffet, Bell, Eisenberg, and Sandler (6for 8 on the day ).
The inning ended with bases loaded and Morty Marcus's first at bat of the season
(grounding out), as Attman's was out of players and had two injuries. The game
remained tied 17-17 until the top of the ninth. When two homers by S&S
plated three runs. The game was tied in the bottom of the inning after a lead
off single by Eisenberg, a walk to Dave Sandler and a single by Joe Vassallo. An
error, Sac fly and fielder's choice scored the three runs. In the tenth a two
out single by Paul Bell won the game after Harry Schevker had singled to lead
off and was moved to third base on fly balls. FINAL SCORE 21-20.
