2012 Pikesville Men's Softball League New Player Information
The following information is for registration as a complete team into the Pikesville Men's softball League.
Our league games are on Sunday mornings only, with doubleheaders
on all 4 fields at Northwest Regional Park in Owings Mills starting at 9 AM.
Please visit the league website, www.pikesvillesoftball.com , for directions to
the fields. We play modified pitch (flat pitch), but most other rules are as per
ASA slow-pitch with 4 outfielders and 1 extra-hitter. The count starts at 0-0
and there is no foul ball penalty after 2 strikes. Because of this style of
play, the games are longer than slow-pitch games and typically run until about
12:15 PM-- sometimes earlier with the 12 run slaughter rule.
The roster size is unlimited during the Regular
Season, however, only 11 players are in the line-up at any one time. We use the
ASA rules for re-entry of starters. Most of the other league rules are also
ASA-- basically ASA slow-pitch rules, but modified (flat pitch) pitching style.
To qualify for the Playoffs/Tournament, a player must play in 8 Regular Season
games.
League fees up front are
1. $700 per team entry due in March- this covers all of
the game balls, field permits, prize money.
2. $40 per week per team during the Regular Season to be
given to the umpire for the doubleheader-- with approximately 14 weeks of
Regular Season play, this represents an additional $560. The league fees include
the umpire fees during the playoffs.
3. Each team is responsible for the costs of their
uniforms, bats, and catcher's equipment.
Regular Season games begin Sunday, April 8, with
the Playoffs beginning in early August. The Playoffs, a double-elimination
tournament, conclude in mid August.

The following information is for registration as an individual player into the Pikesville Men's softball League.
Our league is somewhat unique in that we are run independent of the local recreation council. Each team in the league is run independently. In this regard, we depend on each manager to run a competitive team and to bring a group of quality individuals into our mix.
Our league games are on Sunday mornings, with doubleheaders on all 4 fields at Northwest Regional Park in Owings Mills starting at 9 AM. Each team determines their own roster. Since each team is independently run, you will need to send out an email to the individual team managers or call them on the phone number listed. The new team Thunderbirds (Tony Barner 443-992-3890) may be looking for additional players. Also Deuces Up (Rick Winepol 443-677-2917) is still looking to add players.
